This is a very quick and easy smoothie that has a lot of protein and I promise it tastes great! It makes me feel like I am having a milkshake, even if it is 8:00 in the morning. You could even make this at night, pop it in the fridge and have a healthy, tasty breakfast on the go! It'd also be a great recovery shake for after a tough workout. There really isn't any scenario where this wouldn't be great!
This recipe is derived from Angela at Oh She Glows and her Classic Green Monster.
Ingredients:
1 C unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 tbsp ground flax
1 tbsp nut butter (I use natural peanut butter, but you can use nutella, almond butter, etc)
1 scoop chocolate flavored whey protein powder
2 handfuls of spinach
2-3 ice cubes
Directions:
Following Angela's suggestion, in a good blender, add the almond milk first, then the dry stuff - ground flax and whey protein, then the nut butter, topped with the spinach.
Blend WELL! I like to blend mine on high for a couple minutes, then drop in the ice, and blend for a couple more minutes.
And voila - you have your breakfast!
Granted it's not as fun as a Guinness...but much better for you :)
